Milei travels to Paris with 14 governors as he seeks votes to eliminate the PASO

The Brazilian news site Rio Times Online reported that the Argentine government is combining its investment showcase in Paris with internal political negotiations: the trip includes fourteen governors whose support it needs to pass a bill in the Senate to eliminate mandatory primaries. La Libertad Avanza controls 21 of the 72 Senate seats, and the bill—which reached the Senate in April—has been stalled for months. Minister Patricia Bullrich, who leads the ruling coalition, acknowledged to La Nación: “There is no consensus; we are building it today.” The Radical Party and the PRO prefer voluntary primaries rather than their elimination.
The Paris agenda, from September 30 to October 2, is based at the OECD and includes a speech by Milei, a meeting with Emmanuel Macron, announcements regarding the RIGI, and an agreement related to the FATF. Executives from TotalEnergies, ENI, Glencore, ADNOC, and Rio Tinto are expected to attend.
