Lula uses Milei's image to attack Flávio Bolsonaro

The Paraguayan newspaper ABC reported that Brazilian presidential candidate Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva drew on Argentina’s experience under Javier Milei to criticize his rival, Flávio Bolsonaro. On social media, Lula shared a video featuring statements from Argentine citizens describing economic hardships and linked it to the right-wing candidate’s promise to cut spending, accusing him of wanting to replicate that model.

Lula’s campaign, which secured 45% of the vote in the first round, released the material with a title referencing Milei’s Argentina as a mirror image of Bolsonaro. The report notes that Milei publicly endorsed the son of the former Brazilian president and that this endorsement sparked a diplomatic crisis between the two countries. A Datafolha poll published on Thursday puts Flávio Bolsonaro at 52% of valid votes for the runoff election.
