A private report shows that there were 32,290 fewer companies during Milei's administration

The Argentine Center for Political Economy (CEPA) released a survey showing that the country has lost 32,290 businesses since December 2023, when Javier Milei took office as president. This represents a 6.3% decline in the business sector: the number of registered businesses fell from 512,357 to 480,067. In July alone—the last month covered by the study—948 businesses closed, at a rate of about 30 per day.
At the same time, registered employment fell by 437,611 jobs over the same period, with 3,485 fewer jobs in July alone. According to CEPA, the drop in consumption—against a backdrop of 33.8% year-over-year inflation in July—is hitting retail, industry, and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The report also notes that economic activity contracted by 2.9% month-over-month and 1.4% year-over-year.
