Argentine students are preparing for a protest on Thursday over university funding

This Thursday, there will be a national march by students and university workers in Argentina to demand that the government comply with the law guaranteeing funding for public universities. The ABC newspaper reported that at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) and other institutions, there are already occupations, open classes, and assemblies; the College of Philosophy and Letters will remain occupied until the day of the protest, as will a high school affiliated with that university.
Activities are also taking place in Salta, San Juan, Santa Fe, Mar del Plata, Tandil, Río Cuarto, and Córdoba, with vigils and roadblocks. The three labor federations (CGT and the two CTAs) will join the protest. The mobilization also rejects Decree 70/2023, which repealed the Land Law, and includes demands related to the disability crisis. The law was passed in 2025, vetoed by President Milei, and ratified by Congress; an October court ruling ordered its implementation, but the government appealed.
