Prosecutor Seeks to Expand Investigation into Illicit Enrichment Against Milei's Former Spokesperson

Argentine prosecutor Gerardo Pollicita expanded the investigation into possible illicit enrichment by Manuel Adorni, who served as chief of staff during Javier Milei’s administration until his recent resignation. The move comes after Adorni’s defense team filed a brief to account for part of his assets, claiming that he had purchased bitcoins with his own savings and those of his wife, Bettina Angeletti.
According to the newspaper La Nación, Adorni stated that he owned eight Bitcoin addresses between 2014 and 2018, from which he obtained more than $591,000, which he included in his 2023 sworn statement. Pollicita requested that the envelope containing the passwords to those accounts be opened so they could be verified through an expert analysis, in addition to requesting from Anses the couple’s employment history since they reached the age of majority, a record of their properties and vehicles, the lifting of tax secrecy, and data on dollar purchases made between 2011 and 2015, when currency controls were in effect.
