Elisa Carrió Files a Criminal Complaint Against Milei for Insulting a Journalist

Politician and attorney Elisa Carrió filed a criminal complaint on Thursday against Argentine President Javier Milei over a series of aggressive messages directed at journalist María Eugenia Duffard, according to La Nación. The complaint accuses Milei of abuse of authority and of perpetrating gender-based, media-related, digital, and institutional violence, and was filed with the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Violence Against Women.
The conflict began when Duffard commented on the radio that part of society wanted to vote for Cristina Kirchner but was unable to do so. After the clip was broadcast, Milei described her on social media as a “disgusting leftist with double standards” and, in another post, called her corrupt. A day earlier, Carrió had already publicly criticized the president’s tone toward the press. The organization Reporters Without Borders also tallied thousands of hostile posts toward journalists linked to Milei’s account in recent weeks. The complaint does not imply that the president has been charged, nor does it affect his office.
