A report by NGOs and universities documents job losses following Argentina's labor reform

milei.news

A study presented by Argentine social organizations and academic institutions noted that, since the labor reform was enacted in March, 36,000 formal jobs have been lost, out of a total of 241,200 jobs lost since Javier Milei took office in late 2023. The report, titled “Labor Reform Monitor,” was prepared by the Instituto Argentina Grande in collaboration with Futuros Mejores, the National University of San Martín, and other organizations.

The report also found that informal employment reached 45 percent, with more than six million people working without formal registration, and that 31,342 companies have closed since the start of the libertarian administration, nearly half of which were small and medium-sized businesses. According to the report, “job losses in the formal private sector are widespread,” even in sectors that the government considered to have benefited from the reform.
