The Guardian: London Asked Interpol to Reject Arrest Warrants Requested by Argentina

The Guardian revealed that the British government sent a letter to Interpol headquarters in Lyon asking it to dismiss the arrest warrants sought by Javier Milei’s administration against individuals linked to an oil project in the Malvinas Islands, including British citizens. According to the newspaper, London maintains that these red notices are politically motivated and seek to intimidate those working in the archipelago.
The Sea Lion project, in the northern part of the Malvinas Basin, could triple the islands’ GDP, and Milei has promised to block it. His strategy includes criminal cases against the Israeli firm Navitas and its British partner Rockhopper, as well as a bill in Congress that would expand sanctions to suppliers and shareholders and could extend to the fishing industry. In addition, Argentina would seek arbitration under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea. British officials describe the tension as the highest since the 1982 war.
