At the UN, Milei called on the United Kingdom to resume dialogue on the sovereignty of the Malvinas Islands

In his address to the UN General Assembly, Argentine President Javier Milei raised the need for the United Kingdom to resume talks to peacefully resolve the sovereignty dispute over the Malvinas Islands. The president emphasized the historical nature of Argentina’s claim and warned that his government will take further steps on the issue.
Milei’s remarks came during a six-day session in which dozens of heads of state addressed issues such as multilateralism, Security Council reform, and the conflicts in Gaza, Ukraine, and Sudan. Following his remarks, British Prime Minister Andy Burnham responded that there is no doubt regarding British sovereignty over the islands and that his government will act firmly in the face of what he described as threats to its overseas territories.
