Milei welcomed the markets' reaction to Flávio Bolsonaro's election result

The Peruvian newspaper El Comercio reported that Javier Milei once again lashed out at Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva after Senator Flávio Bolsonaro came in first in the initial round of the Brazilian presidential election. From his X account, the Argentine president attributed the stock market gains to that result and declared: “You leftists who impoverish people, get out of the way—we’re trying to bring glory to the continent.”
According to the complete official tally, Jair Bolsonaro’s son garnered 47.03% and Lula 45.16%, with neither managing to avoid a runoff election, scheduled for October 25. Shares of major Brazilian companies operating abroad climbed as much as 13%, a trend analysts linked to expectations of fiscal consolidation and an opening to private investment. The media outlet noted that in July, Milei had called Lula a thief and a corrupt politician, an incident that led to the Brazilian ambassador in Buenos Aires being recalled for consultations.
