Asset disclosures in the Chamber of Deputies reignite the debate over the political elite

A report by the Latin Times on Perfil’s analysis of the sworn statements filed with the Anti-Corruption Office for fiscal year 2025 indicates that Máximo Kirchner and Cristian Ritondo top the list for the Chamber of Deputies, both with assets exceeding 10 billion pesos, far ahead of the third-place finisher, the libertarian Álvaro García. The survey calculated each total by adding up assets, bank deposits, and cash, and subtracting debts; 235 of 257 deputies were up to date with their filings after the August deadline.

The article notes that wealth spans all political blocs: four legislators from La Libertad Avanza appear among the top eleven, including Martín Menem, while seven deputies reported more debts than assets. It also details that Milei’s net worth grew by 43.3% in pesos but remained virtually unchanged in dollars, and reviews the cases opened by Manuel Adorni and the ANDIS, which have yet to result in convictions.
